What is it?

The G60 is the eighth-generation BMW 5 Series, launched in Australia in 2024. CLAR platform shared with the all-electric i5. The Australian combustion lineup is mild-hybrid only: 520i petrol and 520d diesel, both RWD with the 8-speed Steptronic. 5-star ANCAP 2024 protocol.

The lineup runs from 520i at $114,900 plus on-roads, through to 520d at $122,900 plus on-roads. Warranty cover sits at 5 years, unlimited km.

Interior and Technology

520d returns 5.4 L/100 km combined, true long-haul cruiser. Curved display with iDrive 8.5 / OS9.0, wireless CarPlay and Android Auto standard. 5-star ANCAP 2024 protocol with Driving Assistant Pro standard. Cabin space stretched, rear knee room finally limousine territory.

Big kidneys and slab nose are divisive on the new face. No xDrive AWD on combustion 520i / 520d in Australia. No PHEV variant offered locally, E-Class and A6 do offer one. Real leather is a paid option, Veganza synthetic is the default.
