Ford
Eight seat people mover (Transit Custom based)
From $73,340 plus on-road costs
Ford's eight seat Tourneo, based on the Transit Custom, switches from diesel to a 2.5L petrol plug-in hybrid with 171kW combined, a CVT and an 11.8kWh battery.
We haven't driven the Tourneo yet. On paper, confirm the PHEV's towing capacity before you buy, because the outgoing diesel was rated to 2500kg. Ask for the official electric range too. The related Transit Custom PHEV claims 54km, and Drive expects the heavier Tourneo to do less.

Look at the alternatives if you tow heavy loads, drive long country distances without charging, or want a lower price. A Kia Carnival or a run out diesel Tourneo may suit better.
The plug-in hybrid Tourneo Active is $73,340 and the Titanium X is $76,840, both before on-road costs. That is $2250 more than the diesel versions they replace.
Not for the new model year. Ford Australia has dropped the 125kW/390Nm 2.0L turbo diesel for a 171kW 2.5L petrol plug-in hybrid, due in November 2026. Remaining diesel stock may still be at dealers.
Eight. The second and third row seats can slide, swivel or be removed, and with both rows out there is up to 4683L of load space.
