The Isuzu MU-X is built on the D-MAX platform but styled and equipped as a seven-seat family SUV. It occupies an interesting position: more rugged capability than most SUVs, more refinement than most utes. The LS-T is the range-topper, and Isuzu has loaded it with the features needed to justify the price.
Jenny reviews the LS-T as a family vehicle and finds it copes well with the contradictions built into its brief. Seven seats, a high tow rating, decent ground clearance, and enough technology to satisfy occupants used to mainstream SUVs. Fuel consumption is typical for a diesel of this size, and the ride is better than the chassis origins would suggest on sealed roads.
The MU-X LS-T makes sense for families who live rurally or tow regularly. It handles the overlap between working ute and people-mover with reasonable competence. Those in cities who never see a dirt road are probably better served by something built from the ground up as a family SUV.
