The Ford Ranger Raptor arrives as a performance-oriented variant of Australia's most popular ute. Its brief is clear: look more aggressive, go faster off-road, and charge accordingly. It sits above the Ranger Wildtrak in the lineup and brings Fox Racing shocks, a wider body, and a performance off-road tune that the standard Ranger is not designed to deliver.
Simone took the Raptor through a week of mixed driving and found it genuinely different from the standard Ranger in the areas that matter. On a dirt track or gravel section, the suspension tuning and Baja Mode give the Raptor character that the regular ute cannot replicate. On suburban roads the ride is firm, a trade you make knowingly. The interior mirrors the standard Ranger's in most respects, which is a fair result at this price point.
The Ranger Raptor is for the buyer who genuinely wants to go fast on gravel and does not want a standard Ranger with a lift kit. It is a considered performance tool rather than a lifestyle accessory. Buyers who spend most of their time on sealed roads and want the Raptor's looks should price up the Wildtrak first.
