The Suzuki Vitara Turbo AllGrip is a compact city SUV with a turbocharged 1.4-litre engine and an on-demand AWD system. It occupies the more compact end of the Australian sub-compact SUV market, where its smaller footprint is an advantage in suburbs where parking spaces were clearly planned in a different era.

Jenny found the Vitara Turbo AllGrip easy to drive and suited to its target buyer. The turbo engine pulls well at city speeds, and the AllGrip AWD system handles light off-road and muddy-car-park conditions without drama. The interior is practical rather than plush. For a Bunnings run, a school pickup, or a weekend away on sealed roads, it does the job.

The Vitara Turbo AllGrip suits the buyer who needs AWD reassurance without the full compact SUV footprint or price. It is not as modern-feeling as newer Korean and Japanese alternatives, but the reliability reputation and the smaller size are genuine selling points for inner-city drivers. Buyers who spend significant time on gravel roads should look at something with more ground clearance.
