Amelia puts the 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe V6 through its paces in Australia. The big news for 2020 is the addition of a naturally aspirated 3.5-litre V6 petrol producing 199kW and 336Nm, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. It replaces the diesel in certain grades and gives the Santa Fe a noticeably stronger feel on the road without a price premium over the outgoing oil-burner.

The Santa Fe is a seven-seat large SUV that sits at the pointier end of Hyundai's passenger range. The V6 variant is available in both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations. Fuel consumption sits at around 10.6 litres per 100km on the combined cycle, which is to be expected given the larger displacement. The interior is well appointed with a good-sized infotainment screen, soft-touch materials and plenty of space for passengers in all three rows.

For families after a roomy, comfortable and well-equipped SUV with enough power to feel confident on highways and overtaking situations, the 2020 Santa Fe V6 is worth a close look. Hyundai's seven-year warranty adds further appeal to an already solid package.
