The Mitsubishi ASX occupies a well-worn corner of the subcompact SUV market. It does not have the sharpest styling or the most tech-forward cabin, but it has survived long enough to build a loyal ownership base. The Exceed tested here is the top trim, which means leather, a reversing camera, and dual-zone climate as standard.
Jenny found the ASX honest rather than exciting. The ride is smooth enough for school runs and supermarket circuits, and the cabin is easier to live in than a quick spec-sheet comparison suggests. It will not embarrass a Mazda CX-3 in a back-road challenge, but it parks without drama and seats five without negotiation. The boot is practical for a weekly shop.
Who should buy it? Buyers who value reliability and a known quantity over novelty, and who are not spending their weekends on the Putty Road. At the right price it is good value. Anyone who wants active safety features as standard needs to check the spec carefully.
