The EV6 is Kia's first dedicated electric SUV and the sister car to the Hyundai IONIQ 5. Same E-GMP platform, same 800 V architecture, same dual-motor option, but with a sleeker fastback profile and Kia's own approach to the cabin.
What you are buying
A 77.4 kWh battery in the Long Range variants, single-motor RWD or dual-motor AWD options, and a WLTP range of up to 528 km. 800 V architecture means a 10 to 80 per cent DC charge in around 18 minutes on a fast enough charger. Inside, the EV6 splits the screen design across the dash, with curved dual displays.
Cartell Assessment
The EV6 is the EV that took Kia properly upmarket. It is sharper to drive than the IONIQ 5, faster-charging than anything else at the price, and the cabin layout is the most resolved Kia has built. The compromise is the divisive exterior styling and the slightly tight rear seats.
AU Outlook
EV6 GT-Line AWD pricing in Australia sits in the mid-$90k drive-away range. The Air RWD entry is around $75,000 drive-away. Cross-shop is the Hyundai IONIQ 5, the Tesla Model Y Long Range, and the Polestar 2.
