The second-generation Niro EV is Kia's bigger, sharper, more dedicated EV under the EV6 in the lineup. The Niro is now offered only as a hybrid or full EV (the PHEV is gone), and the EV GT-Line is the most desirable spec with the full styling and tech package.

What you are buying

A 64.8 kWh battery, a 150 kW front-mounted motor, and a WLTP range of around 460 km. Charging tops out at around 80 kW DC, which is fine rather than impressive. Inside, the GT-Line gets the dual-screen dash, the upgraded driver assistance pack, and the contrasting C-pillar trim that is the Niro's most divisive styling choice.

Cartell Assessment

The Niro EV GT-Line is the small electric SUV for the buyer who wants something more stylish than a BYD Atto 3 and more accessible than an EV6. The compromise is the DC charging speed and the slightly tight rear seats.

AU Outlook

Niro EV GT-Line pricing in Australia sits at $72,360 plus on-road costs. The cheaper S trim is around $66,000 plus on-road. Cross-shop is the Hyundai Kona Electric Premium and the Volvo EX30.
