The C-HR is Toyota's most overtly styled small SUV, and the new generation pushes the design even further. The Koba is the top trim and it gets the larger touchscreen, the panoramic roof, the full driver assistance pack, and the hybrid-only powertrain that Toyota has standardised across the C-HR line.

What you are buying

A 1.8 L Atkinson cycle hybrid making a combined 103 kW, driving the front wheels through a CVT-style direct drive system. Fuel use is around 4.0 L/100 km combined. The Koba adds the panoramic glass roof, the upgraded audio, leather seats, and the bigger 19 inch wheels.

Cartell Assessment

The C-HR is the small SUV for the buyer who actually cares what the car looks like. It is more striking than the Yaris Cross, more efficient than the petrol-only Mazda CX-30, and the Toyota service network is the country's largest. The compromise is rear-seat space.

AU Outlook

C-HR Koba Hybrid pricing in Australia sits in the high-$40k drive-away range. The entry GXL hybrid is in the high-$30k bracket. Cross-shop is the Mazda CX-30, the Hyundai Kona Hybrid and the Honda HR-V e:HEV.
