Cadillac has taken the knife to its Lyriq, and this is no limited-time teaser. The big electric SUV is now $90,000 before on-road costs (around $95,000 drive-away) in both Luxury and Sport trim, a permanent $32,000 reduction on where it started.
Under the tax line
The cut matters for more than the sticker. At $90,000 the Lyriq drops under the luxury car tax threshold for fuel-efficient vehicles, which keeps it eligible for a fringe benefits tax exemption on a novated lease. For a company-car buyer, that can turn into thousands a year in real savings. It also lands the Lyriq below the BMW iX and Audi Q8 e-tron, cars it could not touch on price at its 2024 launch of $117,000.

This is a reset, not a discount. Cadillac priced the Lyriq into thin air at launch and has now admitted it. The good news for buyers is a genuinely comfortable, quiet, well-built EV at a price that finally makes sense against the Germans.
AU Outlook
With the smaller Optiq and larger Vistiq arriving, expect Cadillac to keep sharpening the pencil as it builds a dealer network beyond its single showroom.
