Chery is recalling 1,936 Tiggo 4 Hybrids in Australia over a software fault in the emissions system. The campaign covers 2025 and 2026 build Tiggo 4 Hybrids, and Chery says there is no safety hazard and the car still drives normally.

A compliance fix, not a safety scare

The defect sits in the evaporative emission control system, where the software may not operate as intended, which can put the car outside Australian emissions rules. The fix is a free software update at an authorised dealer. The petrol Chery Tiggo 4 Pro is not affected. Owners can check their VIN at vehiclerecalls.gov.au under reference REC-006735, or call Chery on 1800 424 379.

Cartell Assessment

This is the easy kind of recall, a booking rather than a worry, but it is still worth doing. The recall you ignore is the one that bites you at resale.

AU Outlook

As Chinese brands take a bigger share, expect more routine compliance recalls like this one, handled quickly and at no cost.
