The Mustang Dark Horse is back for 2026, and the headline is an Australian-exclusive version co-engineered with Triple Eight Race Engineering: the Dark Horse T8-Spec. Only 250 will be built, all manual, upfit by Ford at Broadmeadows in Melbourne, from a recommended $138,888.
Not a sticker pack
Ford and Triple Eight are blunt that this is real engineering, not a badge. The heart of it is a set of semi-slick Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS tyres, and the chassis has been retuned around them: stiffer springs, stiffer roll bars, adjustable top mounts, a revised MagneRide tune and reworked steering. Jamie Whincup and the crew were in the room through to final sign-off at Ford's You Yangs proving ground. There is aero, Notorious Blue Brembos, Recaro seats and a sequentially numbered build plate, and it comes only in exclusive Avalanche paint.
The engine underneath
Every Dark Horse keeps the 5.0L Coyote V8 making 350 kW and 550 Nm, with a six-speed Tremec manual or a 10-speed auto and a Torsen limited-slip diff. The standard Dark Horse starts at $104,990 and is capped at 500 cars. The T8-Spec is manual only.
Cartell Assessment
This is the enthusiast's Mustang. A numbered, Australia-only V8 with genuine Supercars input in the bits that matter, the tyres and the suspension. It is dear and hard to get, but that is rather the point.
AU Outlook
