Hyundai Australia has issued a recall covering 14,551 examples of the current Hyundai Kona, built across the 2025 and 2026 model years. The action applies to all variants of the SX2 generation, petrol, hybrid and electric alike.
What the fault is
Certain rear centre seat belt buckle anchors did not meet specification during Hyundai internal testing, which means that belt may not operate as intended. In a crash, a seat belt that does not restrain the occupant properly raises the risk of serious injury or death. Until replacement parts arrive, Hyundai is telling owners to avoid using the rear centre seat.
