The Kia EV5 is the middle child in Kia's electric lineup, sitting between the EV3 and EV9 in size and price. South Australia is a decent proving ground: long straight roads, temperature swings, and not a lot of fast chargers when things go sideways.

Simone maps out a route that puts real pressure on the range claim. The EV5 handles highway consumption, climate control draws, and the anxiety of a charge stop that might not be where the app says it is. She finds the car more relaxed about all of it than the road trip required.

For buyers who do occasional longer drives from Adelaide, the EV5 makes a reasonable case. For anything more ambitious, you will want to plan the charging more carefully than the car suggests.
