The Lexus RX 450h has been the sensible choice in the luxury hybrid SUV space for a while. The F-Sport variant adds more aggressive looks, revised suspension tuning and a sportier interior trim.

Under the bonnet, it's the same 3.5-litre V6 hybrid system producing a combined 230kW. It's a well-sorted powertrain that delivers smooth, quiet performance when you want it and genuine efficiency when you don't.

The F-Sport suspension is firmer than standard. On good roads it sharpens the handling noticeably. On rough surfaces it reminds you that this is still a luxury vehicle with luxury expectations.

Inside, the Lexus cabin is impeccably built. Materials are top quality and the detailing is precise. The infotainment controller takes getting used to but the overall ambience is impressive.

It's not cheap. But the RX 450h has always justified its price with a combination of hybrid economy, Lexus reliability and a cabin that ages well. The F-Sport just makes it easier to look at.
