Mazda has put drive-away pricing on its 6e electric sedan barely three months after it reached showrooms. The GT now starts at $52,990 drive-away, and the larger CX-6e SUV has gained drive-away offers too. It is a quick discount for a car that only launched here in July 2026.
The numbers
The 6e GT lists at $52,990 drive-away and pairs a 78kWh battery with up to 560km of WLTP range, 190kW driving the rear wheels, and 30 to 80 percent DC fast charging in about 15 minutes. Braked towing is rated at 1,500kg. Mazda pitches it straight at the BYD Seal, the Tesla Model 3 and the Kia EV4, the mid size electric sedans that have been eating into its traditional 6 buyer. Drive-away pricing this early suggests the 6e has been slow off the mark against those rivals.
Cartell Assessment
A drive-away deal three months in is a tell: the 6e is not walking out of showrooms on badge alone. On paper it is competitive, with real range and a proper Mazda cabin, but the Changan built EV is fighting the sharpest priced segment in the country. At $52,990 drive-away it finally reads as fair value rather than a price to argue down.
AU Outlook
Watch for the CX-6e SUV to carry the volume, since Australians buy far more electric SUVs than sedans. If the 6e keeps needing drive-away support, expect the offers to stick around well into 2027.
