Mazda has updated the CX-30 small SUV and the Mazda3 hatch and sedan for 2026, and the headline is more standard kit for about the same money. Every grade now runs a 10.25-inch multimedia screen, and the autonomous braking reacts to motorcycles, cross-traffic turns and head-on collisions.

Prices barely move

The Mazda CX-30 now starts at $34,760 before on-road costs, up $400, while the Mazda3 opens at $31,910, up $300. Two sportier CX-30 grades join the range, the G25 Evolve SP at $42,360 and the G25 GT SP at $45,860, both before on-road costs. Power is unchanged, with the G20 2.0L making 114kW and 200Nm and the G25 2.5L making 139kW and 252Nm. Cars are orderable now, with deliveries from late October 2026.

Cartell Assessment

Against a Toyota Corolla Cross at $36,480 or a Hyundai Kona petrol at $33,700, the CX-30 answers with a bigger screen and broader safety for a $400 rise. The Mazda3 at $31,910 lines up right on a Toyota Corolla ($31,110) and a Kia K4 ($31,990). More car for roughly the same outlay keeps Mazda honest in two tight segments.

AU Outlook

A mid-cycle update like this is about holding ground, not chasing headlines. With the screen and safety now standard across the board, expect Mazda to lean on value and its ownership story as cut-price Chinese small SUVs keep pushing on sticker price.
