Mercedes-Benz Australia has recalled more than 58,000 vehicles built between 2018 and 2026, one of the larger notices the brand has lodged here in years. It covers popular lines including the A-Class, C-Class, GLA and GLC, along with several Mercedes-AMG variants. The notice is listed on the government portal as REC-006695.
What the fault is
A door lock microswitch can be affected by water and fail over time. If that happens, the car may not register that a door is open, which can stop the auto park function working as intended. The concern is unintended vehicle movement, and the risk that brings to occupants and other road users. Mercedes-Benz will contact owners and carry out the repair free of charge once parts are available.
