What is it?
The DB12 replaces the long-serving DB11 and Aston Martin calls it a Super Tourer rather than a Grand Tourer. Bonded-aluminium platform reworked for 7 percent more torsional stiffness, new Bilstein DTX adaptive dampers, eLSD, wider track. AMG 4.0L twin-turbo V8 retuned to 500 kW and 800 Nm through an 8-speed ZF rear transaxle. Coupe and Volante folding-roof. DB12 also debuts Aston's first in-house AML infotainment.
The lineup runs from DB12 Coupe at $455,000 plus on-roads, through to Q by Aston Martin at TBC plus on-roads. Warranty cover sits at 3 years, unlimited km.
Interior and Technology
500 kW from the AMG-tuned V8 makes the DB12 the fastest series DB Aston has sold. New in-house AML infotainment finally matches the cabin quality. Physical switchgear retained for HVAC, drive mode, exhaust and ESC. 262 L boot and usable 2+2 rear seats are rare in the class.
3-year warranty short for the asking price. 800 Nm RWD on wet Australian roads demands respect. No hybrid or EV powertrain. First-year in-house electronics mean early-build software updates are likely.
