What is it?
The fourth-generation Superb is built on VW Group's MQB Evo platform and is one of the few large sedans on sale under $70,000 plus on-roads in Australia. Two trims, two body styles, plus Skoda's Simply Clever features and a 7-year warranty.
The lineup runs from 110TSI Sedan at $59,990 plus on-roads, through to 195TSI 4x4 Wagon at $66,990 plus on-roads. Warranty cover sits at 7 years, unlimited km.
Interior and Technology
Limousine-level rear legroom in a Camry-priced car, plus the only proper European wagon body still on sale under $70,000 plus on-roads.
No hybrid or PHEV option in Australia (Europe gets the iV). 1.5T entry also works hard with a full load.
Should you buy the Superb?
Reasons to buy
- Limousine-level rear legroom in a Camry-priced car, plus the only proper European wagon body still on sale under $70,000 plus on-roads.
- Warranty: 5 years, unlimited km.
- 5-star ANCAP (2022), full driver-assist suite.
- 645 L boot, segment-competitive cargo space.
Reasons to wait
- No hybrid or PHEV option in Australia (Europe gets the iV). 1.5T entry also works hard with a full load.
- You want a hybrid (Toyota Camry HEV is the obvious cross-shop), a sportier rear-drive sedan (BMW 3 Series, Genesis G70), or a cheaper entry into the segment.
- The DSG can be hesitant from stationary, a typical VW Group trait. Drive in stop-start traffic before signing.
- Top trim climbs to $66,990 plus on-roads.
