Should you buy the Cybertruck?

Reasons to buy

  • Stainless-steel exoskeleton needs no paint and resists rust, 11.4 kW V2L outlet is the highest of any production EV, and Tesla Supercharger access remains available to grey-import owners in Australia.
  • Warranty: 4 years, 80,000 km (US spec). Battery: 8 years, 240,000 km.
  • 1.83 m tray boot, segment-competitive cargo space.
  • Braked towing rated at 4,990 kg.

Reasons to wait

  • Not officially sold in Australia. No factory right-hand-drive production, no ANCAP rating, no full ADR compliance, and Tesla's Australian service network is not authorised to warranty grey imports.
  • You want a properly homologated EV ute on the Australian market (BYD Shark 6 PHEV, LDV eTerron 9), factory warranty cover, or anything close to mainstream pricing.
  • Import and conversion costs frequently exceed the price of the vehicle itself. Confirm SEVS eligibility, ADR compliance pathway and ongoing service support before committing.
