What is it?
The C40 is the coupe-roof variant of the Volvo XC40 Recharge, sold in Australia as the C40 Recharge. It shares the CMA platform, the 82 kWh NMC battery and the powertrain options of its XC40 sibling, but loses around 39 L of rear cargo space and a small amount of rear headroom in exchange for the sloped roofline. The C40 is on run-out, with Volvo Australia transitioning to the rebadged EX40 (formerly XC40 Recharge) once current stock is cleared. Two variants: Single Motor Extended Range RWD and Twin Motor AWD. Google built-in OS, 200 kW DC peak.
The lineup runs from Single Motor Extended Range at $74,990 plus on-roads, through to Twin Motor at $84,990 plus on-roads. Warranty cover sits at 5 years, unlimited km.

- You want a Volvo electric SUV with a future after 2026 (the EX30 or the rebadged EX40 are the smarter call). The Twin Motor at $84,990 plus on-roads overlaps Polestar 4 and BMW iX1 territory.
- Volvo Europe rebranded the C40 as the EC40 in 2024 to align EV naming. Volvo Australia retained the C40 Recharge nameplate through to current run-out stock. If you want longer-term parts and software support, the EX40 successor is the safer buy.
