What is it?

The Xpeng G9 is the brand's flagship for Australia, launched in late 2025 through Inchcape's TrueEV retail network. Large five-seat electric SUV sized between the Tesla Model Y and Model X, built on 800V SEPA 2.0 architecture with a peak DC charge rate of 300 kW. Long Range RWD and Performance AWD grades share a 98 kWh NMC battery.

The lineup runs from Long Range RWD at $76,800 plus on-roads, through to Performance AWD at $84,800 plus on-roads. Warranty cover sits at 5 years, unlimited km.

Interior and Technology

800V SEPA 2.0 architecture with 300 kW DC charging, 570 km WLTP on the RWD, 28-speaker Xopera 7.1.4 audio standard, and the Performance AWD does 3.9 seconds for under $90k. 660 L boot plus 71 L frunk keeps it family practical.

Five seats only with no seven-seat option in the segment, brand is still building service footprint outside metro, ANCAP rating is pending with Euro NCAP carry-over only, and X-NGP advanced features are still rolling out via over-the-air updates.

Reasons to wait

  • Five seats only with no seven-seat option in the segment, brand is still building service footprint outside metro, ANCAP rating is pending with Euro NCAP carry-over only, and X-NGP advanced features are still rolling out via over-the-air updates.
  • You need seven seats (no seven-seat option in this G9), you want a brand with a wider service footprint outside metro, a current ANCAP rating rather than the Euro NCAP carry-over, or you want a Tesla Supercharger access plus traditional retail.
