Chery has put a seven-seat plug-in family SUV on the road for $45,990 drive-away. The Tiggo 8 Super Hybrid opens at that figure in Urban trim, with the top Ultimate at $49,990 drive-away, and Chery bills it as Australia's most affordable plug-in seven-seater.

What you get for the money

The Tiggo 8 Super Hybrid pairs a 1.5 litre turbo petrol engine rated at 105kW with a 150kW electric motor, driving the front wheels through a single-speed hybrid transmission. Chery quotes up to 95km of electric-only range (NEDC) from an 18.3kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, around 1,200km of total range, and a 30 to 80 per cent DC charge top up in about 20 minutes. It is covered by a seven year, unlimited kilometre warranty. A cashback of up to $3,000 runs across the Tiggo 8 and Tiggo 9 ranges to 31 October 2026.

Cartell Assessment

This is the real pitch, three rows and a plug for family SUV money. It lands close to five-seat plug-ins like the BYD Sealion 6 but adds a third row, which is rare at this price. Confirm the drive-away figure and that the cashback still applies to your chosen grade before you sign.

AU Outlook

The cashback is the clock here. If a seven-seat plug-in is on your list, the end of October is the deadline to move on the current offer. Step up money buys the larger Chery Tiggo 9 Super Hybrid.
