The financial year closes on 30 June, which gives you eight days to take advantage of the sharpest EV discounts of 2026. The deals worth chasing are on cars you would actually buy, not the slow movers brands are desperate to clear.
BYD is leading with cashback
BYD is offering $3,000 cashback on the electric Sealion 5, the Sealion 6 plug-in hybrid, the seven-seat Sealion 8 plug-in hybrid, and the Shark 6 plug-in dual-cab ute, for orders placed by 29 June and delivered by 30 June. There is a 1.88 per cent finance comparison rate on the same cars, and a five per cent novated lease discount on others, including the Atto 1. Australia's cheapest EV starts from $27,097 drive-away, or around $24,000 once the cashback lands. For a city runabout or a second car on the school run, that is properly cheap motoring.
MG is cutting prices, not just sweetening them
MG has gone the other way and dropped sticker prices. The HS Super Hybrid Excite is now $42,990 drive-away, down from $47,990, with the Essence at $46,990, down from $51,990. The electric IM5 and IM6 are up to $3,000 below launch, with Platinum grades at $67,990 and Performance at $77,990, plus a $500 accessories credit. Price cuts beat cashback in the long run, because they follow the car into the used market.
Read the fine print
Every one of these needs delivery before 30 June to count for this financial year, and stock on the fast sellers is thin this close to the deadline. If a dealer cannot promise a build and delivery date in writing, the headline saving may quietly slide into July, at which point the offer can change.
Cartell Assessment
The standout is the BYD Atto 1 at roughly $24,000 drive-away after cashback. Nothing else new on the market gets you into a warrantied EV for that money, and for a household second car the sums are hard to argue with. The MG HS Super Hybrid at $42,990 is the smarter family pick if you are not ready to go fully electric, because it is a permanent price, not a one-month sweetener.
AU Outlook
Expect a fresh round of offers in July as brands reset for the new financial year, so there is no need to rush a car you did not want. But if the EV you already had your eye on is on this list, the next eight days are the cheapest it will be for a while.
