GWM has confirmed Australian pricing for the 2027 GWM Haval H7, and the headline act is the plug-in hybrid, which opens at $49,990 before on-road costs. The range launches on 2 November, with order books open and stock already landing at dealers.
Four grades, all all-wheel drive
The line-up opens with the Lux all-wheel drive hybrid at $45,990 before on-road costs, then the Lux plug-in hybrid at $49,990, the Vanta hybrid at $49,990 and the Vanta plug-in hybrid at $53,990. Those are launch prices that include a $1,000 saving until 30 November, after which the Lux hybrid becomes $46,990 and the Lux plug-in $50,990. The hybrid pairs a 1.5 litre turbo petrol engine with electric assistance for a combined 182kW and 670Nm, while the plug-in lifts that to 320kW and 670Nm, with a 33.7kWh battery good for 137km of electric range and 844km combined on the WLTC test.
Cartell Assessment
This is a direct shot at the Toyota RAV4. The entry Haval H7 hybrid matches the RAV4 GX hybrid at $45,990 before on-road costs, but the real story is the plug-in. At $49,990 it lands about $8,850 under the RAV4 plug-in hybrid XSE at $58,840, and it brings far more power. For a family buyer cross-shopping plug-in SUVs, that is a hard number to look past.
AU Outlook
Seven-seat versions are due in 2027, which will widen the appeal against three-row rivals. With GWM pricing the H7 plug-in this far under the benchmark Toyota, expect the established brands to feel the pressure on both price and electric range.
