Hyundai Australia has recalled 3,316 examples of the Hyundai i30 Sedan Hybrid because a software fault can let the hybrid power control unit overheat and catch fire. The recall (REC-006714) covers the 1.6 GDI HEV built between 2023 and 2026.
What owners should do
The regulator lists the hazard plainly: a vehicle fire that could injure or kill occupants and bystanders, or damage property. The fix is a software update carried out free of charge at an authorised Hyundai dealer. Until that update is done, Hyundai says the car should be parked outdoors, away from structures and other vehicles.
