Kia has put a drive-away price on the new-generation Seltos, and it is hybrid only. The small SUV reaches showrooms this month from $39,990 drive-away nationwide, or $37,990 before on-road costs, with the range topping out at the GT-Line e-AWD at $55,490 drive-away.
A pricier, cleaner Seltos
The cheapest Seltos is now about $6,700 dearer than the non-hybrid model it replaces, which started near $31,250 before on-road costs. Every variant runs a 1.6 litre petrol hybrid with a six-speed dual-clutch, making 113 kW and 265 Nm in front-wheel-drive form, while the GT-Line e-AWD adds a rear motor for about 133 kW. Kia dropped the cheap petrol model to avoid the emissions penalties now steering the whole market toward hybrids. The Kia Seltos still lands under the Toyota Corolla Cross and Hyundai Kona hybrids it is chasing.
Cartell Assessment
You pay more up front, but you are buying the version resale will reward. A petrol-only small SUV is a harder sell every year, and Kia has read the room.
AU Outlook
Expect the hybrid-only playbook to spread across the rest of Kia's range as the standard tightens.
