Nissan has confirmed the Navara Pro, its first plug-in hybrid ute for Australia, with the electrified Nissan Navara due to join the local range in 2027. It marks a return to the ute fight from a brand that had gone quiet on the segment.

What Nissan has locked in

The Navara Pro pairs a 2.0 litre turbo-petrol engine with a high-output electric motor built into an eight-speed automatic, driving through a mechanical four-wheel drive system. Nissan is targeting 300 kW and 800 Nm, a 3,500 kg braked towing capacity and up to 1,000 kg of payload, though it stresses these are preliminary figures subject to final homologation. It is a five-seat dual-cab, built in China and tuned with Australian and New Zealand input, and it adds vehicle-to-load power output.

Cartell Assessment

On its target numbers the Navara Pro would carry more than plug-in rivals such as the BYD Shark 6 and GWM Cannon Alpha, and tow with the best of them. Buyers also get up to ten years or 300,000 km of cover when they service with Nissan.

AU Outlook

Nissan has not named a price, battery size or electric-only range yet. Those details, and the confirmed final specs, should firm up closer to the 2027 on-sale date.
