Nissan has recalled 13,795 X-Trail e-Power hybrids in Australia over a software fault that can cut motive power while the car is being driven.
The recall (REC-006653) covers T33 X-Trail e-Power models built from 2022 to 2026. The lithium-ion battery controller software can incorrectly trigger a fail-safe mode, and when it does, the car can lose drive. A companion recall covers another 237 Qashqai e-Powers built from 2025 to 2026 with the same fault.
What owners need to do
The fix is a free software reprogram at any Nissan dealer. Owners will be contacted by mail, but there is no need to wait: call your dealer and book it in. You can also check whether your car is affected by entering your VIN at the federal government vehicle recalls website.
