Peugeot Australia has recalled 550 vehicles because an interior door handle fault could leave occupants unable to get out. The action spans the Peugeot 3008, 308, 408 and 5008 from the 2024 and 2025 model years, across hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric variants.
What the fault is
A software issue can cause the interior door handles to deactivate without warning while the engine is running, which may stop one or more doors being opened from inside the car. In an emergency, that could trap occupants and increase the risk of serious injury or death. It is the kind of fault that reads as minor on paper and is anything but in the moment you need a door to open.

Because the cause is software, dealers can resolve it with an update rather than parts, so there should be no long wait for components.
