Polestar has expanded the 4 range with a new SUV body style, and it is already taking orders in Australia. The SUV starts at $73,900 before on-road costs, and the brand says its first allocated production run is filling fast ahead of December deliveries.
What is different
The headline change is a rear window. The existing Polestar 4 deletes the rear glass in favour of a camera and an interior screen, while the new SUV variant adds the window back and takes on more upright, wagon-like proportions for buyers who want a clearer view out. It is built in Korea, through Geely's stake in Renault Korea, rather than in China.
Cartell Assessment
This is a sensible move. The coupe roofline and missing rear window were the most divisive parts of the Polestar 4, so offering a straighter SUV answer at the same end of the market should widen its appeal.
AU Outlook
Polestar has delivered 1,481 cars in Australia over the first eight months of 2026, and demand for the SUV is running ahead of supply. If you want one this year, the December allocation is the one to chase.
