XPeng's factory-backed Australian operation has moved to clean up the mess left by its former distributor, confirming it will honour eligible cashback, warranty and servicing commitments made to customers who bought through TrueEV.
The $5,000 question, answered
The pledge covers the much publicised $5,000 cashback offer that many XPeng G6 buyers never received, a promotional 10 year warranty offer, complimentary scheduled servicing deals and other campaign offers made in the TrueEV era.
XPeng ANZ will also extend its factory 7 year, unlimited kilometre warranty to every G6 sold through TrueEV and its dealers (capped at 160,000km for commercial use), with the high voltage battery, battery management system and drive motor covered for 8 years or 160,000km.
The move follows the end of TrueEV's Federal Court action against XPeng, dismissed on 20 August after the importer failed to make a required payment. Affected owners can email XPeng customer care with their VIN and proof of purchase.

This is the right call. None of this was the customers' fault, and XPeng picking up another company's tab buys real goodwill in a market where Chinese brands live and die on trust.
AU Outlook
With the legal cloud gone, expect XPeng to push hard on a new dealer network and the G9 and X9 to follow the G6.
