What is it?
The second-generation MG ZS arrived in late 2024 on a new platform with a 5-star ANCAP rating and a credible full-hybrid option. Three petrol grades plus the Hybrid+ Essence flagship, all with the 7-year MG warranty.
The lineup runs from Excite 1.5 FWD at $25,990 drive-away, through to Essence Hybrid+ at $36,990 drive-away. Warranty cover sits at 10 years, 250,000 km (transferable).
Interior and Technology
$25,990 drive-away entry, 5-star ANCAP from the 2025 protocol, and the Hybrid+ claiming 4.7 L/100 km for under $34,000.
500 kg braked tow rules out trailers, and the 1.5L NA petrol entry is uninspiring next to the hybrid.
Should you buy the ZS?
Reasons to buy
- $25,990 drive-away entry, 5-star ANCAP from the 2025 protocol, and the Hybrid+ claiming 4.7 L/100 km for under $34,000.
- Warranty: 7 years, unlimited km. Battery: 7 years on HEV+.
- 5-star ANCAP (2025), full driver-assist suite.
- 443 L (1,457 L seats down) boot, segment-competitive cargo space.
- Braked towing rated at 500 kg.
Reasons to wait
- 500 kg braked tow rules out trailers, and the 1.5L NA petrol entry is uninspiring next to the hybrid.
- You need to tow (Seltos and Kona pull more than 500 kg), or you want proven Australian resale data.
- Hybrid+ adds about $8,000 over the petrol. Excite Plus Hybrid+ at $33,990 drive-away is the value sweet spot.
- Top trim climbs to $36,990 drive-away.
