The 2018 Nissan Navara ST-X Dual Cab arrives with ride quality at the top of the changes list for the year. This has been a persistent criticism of the Navara, and Nissan has applied specific engineering effort to address it, targeting the choppy, unsettled ride that the independent rear suspension could produce when the tray was unladen.
The ST-X is powered by a 2.3-litre twin-turbo diesel producing 140 kW and 450 Nm of torque. That is a competitive specification for the class, and the engine delivers strong performance across the rev range for both highway and off-road use.
The Navara competes directly with the Toyota HiLux and Ford Ranger in a segment where brand loyalty runs deep. The ride improvements for 2018 address one of the few genuine weaknesses in the Navara package, and combined with the ST-X specification, it makes for a more rounded overall proposition than the outgoing model.
