The Genesis GV70 is the most quietly impressive luxury SUV on sale in Australia, and the most under-shopped. Amelia gets why.

The 2.5T engine is more than enough for everything most owners will ever do. The cabin is genuinely beautiful — and we mean that comparatively, against the Audi Q5, the BMW X3 and the Mercedes GLC. The Lexicon audio is a step ahead of everything in the segment short of the Burmester unit in a $200k Mercedes.

The case to buy a Genesis instead of a German remains the same as it has been since the brand launched in Australia: five years of free servicing, a five-year warranty, and a no-pressure dealer experience that the German brands have never figured out. The case against is intangible — the Genesis badge doesn't yet carry the same social weight as a roundel or a four-ringed circle. If that doesn't matter to you, the GV70 is the smart pick.
