BMW has nudged up the price of its newest electric SUV barely half a year after it arrived. The BMW iX3 50 xDrive M Sport now lists at $112,500 before on-road costs, up $2,600 on its March launch price of $109,900, with no change to equipment. The rear-drive iX3 40 is untouched at $89,900 before on-road costs.
A commercial decision
BMW Australia calls it a routine pricing review and a commercial decision, not tied to any added kit. The timing is awkward, with first iX3 50 deliveries only starting in late June. The dual-motor car pairs 345kW and 645Nm with a 108.7kWh battery for a claimed 805km, while the single-motor 40 makes 235kW from an 82.6kWh pack for 635km WLTP.
Cartell Assessment
A $2,600 rise on a car this new is a bold ask in a segment being reset by cheaper rivals. At $112,500 the iX3 50 now sits $300 above a Mercedes GLC400 electric ($112,200) and clear of an Audi Q6 e-tron Sport ($105,400) and a Volvo EX60 P10 ($101,990). The range is strong, but buyers cross-shopping on price have more reasons to look elsewhere.
AU Outlook
With the cheaper iX4 twins due in early 2027 from $103,900, BMW is comfortable charging a premium for the badge. Whether the market wears it is the question. If the iX3 50 slows, do not be surprised to see the rise quietly offset by a drive-away deal.
