Ford Australia is recalling 13,907 Ford Ranger Double Cab utes over a side curtain airbag fault. The affected vehicles are MY2026 and MY2026.5 models built between 26 November 2025 and 10 July 2026.
What the fault is
In a crash, the side curtain airbag may interact with the B-pillar trim as it inflates and not deploy as intended. If that happens, the B-pillar ramp may detach and increase the risk of injury to occupants. Ford says it found the issue through routine testing and is not aware of any incidents in customer vehicles. All other airbags, including the front, centre, knee and side thorax units, continue to work as designed.
Who is affected
About 8,000 of the 13,907 utes have already been sold and are being prioritised for repair. The rest are dealer stock and have been placed under a temporary delivery and demonstration hold. The remedy is now available, and the fix is a free replacement of B-pillar trim parts at an authorised Ford dealer.

This is a precautionary recall handled the right way, caught in testing rather than after a crash. Owners can keep driving in the meantime, but there is no reason to sit on a free fix.
