Ford Australia is recalling 4,955 examples of the current Mustang built between 2024 and 2026, after a manufacturing defect emerged in the windscreen wiper system. Recall notice REC-006712 was published on August 27.
What goes wrong
According to the notice, the windscreen washing system can become inoperable, and the wipers may only work at their highest speed setting. Either failure hurts visibility, and the regulator warns that poor visibility increases the risk of an accident causing injury or death to occupants and other road users.
What owners should do
Ford will contact affected owners in writing and ask them to book their car into an authorised Ford dealer, where the wiper system will be inspected and repaired free of charge. Owners can also call the Ford Customer Relationship Centre on 13 3673, or check their VIN against the recall list at vehiclerecalls.gov.au.

As recalls go this is a mild one, caught before any reported crashes, and the fix is straightforward. But wipers stuck on full speed in light drizzle is exactly the kind of fault that distracts a driver at the worst moment, so book the fix rather than living with it.

The recall covers the petrol Mustang only. If your VIN is on the list, the inspection is quick and costs nothing.
