Geely's EX2 hatch is arriving in Australian dealerships now, priced from $26,490 plus on-road costs for the Complete grade and $30,990 for the Inspire. That makes it the second-cheapest electric car in the country, behind only the BYD Atto 1.
There is a launch sweetener too: order by 31 August and Geely throws in a free 7 kW home charger and premium paint.
The cheap EV floor keeps dropping
A year ago the entry price for a new electric car in Australia sat past thirty grand. Now there are two below $27,000 before on-roads, and the EX2 arrives with a home charger deal that removes one of the classic first-EV hurdles in the same transaction.
Geely priced the EX2 for Australia in mid July. The news this week is physical: cars are on showroom floors, test drives are available, and the charger offer has a hard deadline.

The EX2 is aimed squarely at second-car households, first-car buyers, and anyone doing a predictable urban commute. At this price the usual EV objections start running out of road, especially with home charging thrown in. The question that matters now is the drive itself and how the ownership experience holds up, and we will reserve judgement on those until we have spent proper time in one.
AU Outlook
Geely's Australian operation has been scaling fast, and the EX2 gives it a genuine volume play at the price-sensitive end of the market. If the Atto 1 and EX2 keep trading blows under $27,000, the biggest winner is the buyer who was never going to spend forty grand on an EV anyway. The August 31 charger deadline is real, so if you are close to a decision, a test drive this month costs you nothing.
