Hyundai has cut the price of its smallest EV again. The Inster now opens at $35,990 drive-away for the Standard Range and $41,990 drive-away for the Cross, a reduction of $1,500 on each, with the offers running to 31 December 2026.
A smaller, cheaper range
Hyundai has also dropped the mid Extended Range grade after slow sales, leaving a short city car in Standard Range form and the slightly longer-legged Cross, which claims 360 km of WLTP range. At $35,990 drive-away the Inster lines up against the MG4 and the GWM Ora, and it carries Hyundai's five year warranty.
Cartell Assessment
A price going down beats one going up. The Inster is tiny and the range is modest, but a Hyundai EV under $36,000 drive-away with a known dealer network is an easy first electric car.
AU Outlook
The budget EV price war is now the main event, and Hyundai has shown it will chase it rather than sit still.
