Toyota Australia says the average wait on many of its most popular models has dropped from three to six months to about three months, as fresh stock lands on the HiLux, Prado, LandCruiser, RAV4 and the electric bZ4X. These are the cars Australians cross shop the most, so a shorter queue changes the timing of your next move.
Why the wait has eased
Supply has loosened at the same time as demand has cooled. Toyota is still the number one brand and is on track for a 31st straight year on top, yet its sales to the end of September sat at 152,944, down 15.9 per cent year on year. The RAV4 is already bouncing back, with 4,624 sales in September, up 81 per cent on the same month last year as stock returned.
Cartell Assessment
Shorter waits are good news, but read the context. Toyota is chasing more than 220,000 sales for 2026, which means a hard fourth quarter push to hit target. Right now supply is loose and the dealer wants the sale, so your leverage is at its best.
AU Outlook
If a HiLux or RAV4 is on your shortlist, order now while stock is flowing rather than waiting into the new year. A late run at the annual target can tighten supply and firm up pricing again fast, so the window that is open today may not stay open.
