Should you buy the MG3?

Reasons to buy

  • $23,990 drive-away is the cheapest new car in Australia, with a 5-star ANCAP rating from 2024 and a 7-year warranty.
  • Warranty: 7 years, unlimited km. Battery: 7 years on Hybrid+.
  • 5-star ANCAP (2024), full driver-assist suite.
  • 293 L (983 L seats down) boot, segment-competitive cargo space.

Reasons to wait

  • Petrol 1.5L is breathless next to the Hybrid+, and the CVT can drone under load.
  • You want Toyota or Suzuki resale data, AllGrip AWD (Swift), or a tighter Picanto-style sticker.
  • The Hybrid+ is the one to buy if budget allows. 155 kW combined makes the petrol entry feel underpowered by comparison.
  • Top trim climbs to $31,990 drive-away.
