GWM will show its smaller GWM Cannon Hi4-T plug-in hybrid ute to the public for the first time at Everything Electric, held at Sydney Showground from 18 to 20 September 2026. It is the first chance for buyers to see the model in the metal on Australian soil.
Where it sits and what powers it
Australian pricing is not yet confirmed and drops at the show, so no drive-away figure is locked in today. What we do know is that it slots under the larger Cannon Alpha Hi4-T, which starts at $57,490 drive away, so a start in the low $50,000s looks likely. The powertrain pairs a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine with a 33.1kWh battery, and the target is clear: the BYD Shark 6 and the Ford Ranger PHEV that have redrawn the plug-in ute segment.

The cheap PHEV ute club is about to get another member, and that is good news for anyone cross-shopping a Shark 6. A smaller, keener-priced Hi4-T could be the volume play GWM needs.
