GWM has locked in its next Haval H7 for an Australian launch in mid-October, starting from under $50,000 drive away. The outgoing Haval H7 was a single front-wheel-drive Vanta hybrid at $46,990 drive away, so the new car adds a driven rear axle and a second powertrain while holding close to the same money.
AWD standard, and a plug-in joins the range
Every Australian H7 now uses GWM's Hi4 all-wheel-drive system, and the range grows from one grade to two powertrains: a conventional hybrid and a plug-in hybrid. GWM is holding final outputs, battery and range figures until closer to launch, and the plug-in hybrid is expected to cost more than the hybrid entry. It lands squarely on the Toyota RAV4 and the Kia Sportage.

GWM already fields several RAV4 rivals, so a fourth risks crowding its own showroom. The counter is value: if a hybrid all-wheel-drive mid-size SUV really does start under fifty grand, the H7 could be the most metal you can buy in the class for the money. We will reserve judgement until GWM names per-grade drive-away prices.
AU Outlook
Watch for the full price list and confirmed Australian outputs in October. If the plug-in hybrid holds a competitive drive-away figure, it becomes one of the cheaper ways into a plug-in hybrid family SUV this year.
