Hyundai has put numbers on the new Tucson Hybrid, and they are aimed squarely at the Toyota RAV4. Detailed at Hyundai's 2026 CEO Investor Day after the fifth-generation Tucson's global debut in South Korea last week, the new hybrid makes 180kW and 380Nm, up from 172kW and 367Nm today.

That output gives the Tucson a 37kW advantage over the RAV4 GX 2WD Hybrid's combined 143kW. Hyundai claims 0-100km/h in 8.5 seconds and quoted combined fuel use of 5.7L/100km in its presentation, though Australian figures are not yet locked in. The system, codenamed TMED-II FF, pairs a 1.6 litre turbo four with a new dual-motor hybrid transmission and supports vehicle-to-load, so it can power camping gear from the car.
Bigger in every direction
The new Tucson grows 60mm to 4700mm long, is 40mm wider at 1905mm, and adds 30mm of wheelbase at 2785mm, with boxier styling to match. The same hybrid family is expected to reach the next Kia Sportage.
AU Outlook
Hyundai Australia has not confirmed local timing or pricing, but the Tucson is its second-best seller here and the new car is expected in showrooms during 2027. With the current car pictured above still on sale, expect run-out deals to sharpen as the handover approaches.
