BYD has opened October the way it seems to open every month, with a fresh deal. The brand is offering $4,000 cashback across 16 variants, spanning the Seal 6, the Sealion 5, 6, 7 and 8, and the Shark 6 ute.

The numbers that matter

The cashback drops the BYD Shark 6 Premium from $57,900 to $53,900 before on-road costs, and the Sealion 7 Premium from $54,990 to $50,990. Buyers who prefer finance can take 0.99 per cent per annum instead. The campaign runs from 1 October, with orders open until 21 December and deliveries by 31 December.

Cartell Assessment

The timing is pointed. This offer landed the morning after BYD's last campaign closed, so there has not been a single day without a BYD deal on the table. It is aggressive, it is relentless, and it keeps the brand's drive-away pricing in the conversation every time a buyer walks into a showroom.

AU Outlook

With the Shark 6 already the top selling Chinese nameplate in Australia, expect the usual suspects, from the Ford Ranger PHEV to the GWM Cannon Alpha, to answer before Christmas.
